CL@SS project partners met in Reșița, Romania, in 6-7 October, 2017, for the final meeting of the project.

During the first day of the meeting, each partner presented the implemented local activities during the two years of the project and then they had a review of the developed  CL@SS Manual. Partners shared feedbacks from the participants in national dissemination conferences and from the trained teachers and students. Also, the coordinator prepared a review of the online platform with activities, created whitin CL@SS project and discussions about dissemination and exploitation of outputs took place.

In the second day of the meeting, the coordinator had individual work with each partner about financial reporting and final report review, on financial and other management issues. The meeting ended with a evaluation of the project and follow up, evaluation of the meeting and setting deadlines for providing reporting information.

The partners were very satisfied with the final outcomes of the project, as the feedback received from all the participants during the 2 years was very positive. Each one presented different possibilites of exploitation of the outcomes in future and also future collaboration plans were discussed.

Final Conference on Competences Learning at Secondary Schools-CL@SS project was held in Turkey on 28 September 2017 at Marmara University, Ataturk Educational Faculty.  

Before the Conference, all of the stakeholders, teachers, prospective teachers, principals, representatives of trade unions for education, parents, were informed by official invitations. Moreover, announcement was made via webpage of METEGDER and conference poster was publicized wherever target groups could recognize them. In addition, books (1 main book + 6 activity book) that were published as outputs of the project and other promotional items (pens, notebooks, files etc.) were prepared in order to hand in to participants.

Conference was initiated by official opening speech of the faculty dean, Ahmet Şükrü Özdemir, advisor of the project of Turkish side. Then, project coordinator, Şaban Berk, did a presentation on “The Logical and Scientific Background of the Project: What Social Skills are Needed While Teachers and Administrators are doing their Professions. Presentation of Berk lasted more than one hour and international and national literature were revived. After the presentation first part of the conference ended and a coffee break was taken for 15 minutes.

Second part of the conference was started with presentation of two trainers, Pınar Doğanyiğit and Cahide Sinem Düşmez, on “Project Outputs and Using of Web Sites” they emphasized how to use books and activities created during the project and how to use project webpages in order to make equip our students with social skills and get more benefit from recourses. After that, another project trainer, Mustafa Demirer gave a speech on “Using the Project’s outputs from Stakeholders-Next Steps.” Demirer explained how outputs of the project could be used through stakeholders and how to reach more target groups.

Conference was completed via Q&A session.

On 27.09.2017, at Hotel Rogge from Reșița, Colegiul Economic al Banatului Montan organized the DISSEMINATION CONFERENCE entitled DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS' SOCIAL COMPETENCES IN CLASS.

The final conference of the project aimed to disseminate the activities carried out in the two years of the project, but also to the familiarization of the participants with the project's products, to make them known among the teachers who will be able to use them in the educational process. The main project products presented at the conference were: The Educational Package for Developing Students’ Social Skills at Class and the on-line Project Platform, which teachers can use in order to have access to all exercises created in the project.

After presenting the project and its outcomes, the participants took part in the discussions and had the opportunity to express their opinion on the usefulness of these teaching materials and the opportunity to integrate them into the classroom approach. The feedback received from both teachers and pupils (during previous meetings) was extremely positive and confirms the importance of the teaching methodology proposed by the partners of the project. All participants consider that the training materials are an added value of this project at they can be used during classes with success, they have good metodological explanations, a friendly aspect and lots of suggestions for teachers.

The 33 participants were representatives of different regional and local institutions related to educational field, as follows: KEY EXPERTS (The Didactic House of Caraș-Severin, The Regional Center of Ressources and Educational Assistance Caraș-Severin, The University of Eftimie Murgu Reșița), MUNICIPALITIES REPRESENTATIVES (The Local Council of Reșița, The City Hall of Reșița from The Department for education and culture), POLICY MAKERS (The Regional School Inspectorate of Caraș-Severin), MEDIA REPRESENTATIVES, SCHOOL DIRECTORS AND TEACHERS (11 different secondary schools in Reșița).

On September 26, 2017, a national conference of the project CL@SS "Competences Learning at Secondary Schools" was held in the conference hall of the Renaissance Hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The event was attended by Mrs. Vanya Kastreva – Director of the Regional Directorate of Education - Sofia City, representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Education Directorate of Sofia Municipality, the Bulgarian Teachers' Syndicate, “” educational site, principals and teachers from different schools from Sofia.

The participants at the event had the chance to get acquainted with various innovative methods for developing key social skills in class which were transferred, adapted and piloted within the project CL@SS.

On 8.9.2017 in Celje, Slovenia the Celje Youth Center (MCC), together with the Association for Social Pedagogy and the Secondary School for Nursing Celje, organized a conference with a workshop titled "Soft Skills in Formal Education".

The conference was one of the key events of the project Cl@SS - Competences Learning at Secondary Schools project, where the Celje Youth Center, in cooperation with international partners, the Central Health School Celje and the Velenje School Center, has developed a new methodology of soft skills in teaching in secondary schools.

At the conference were presented:
- key results and emphasis of the CL@SS project (Sonja Majcen, Celje Youth Center)
- learning soft skills through the perspective of group dynamics (Alja Zorman, teacher of Secondary School for Nursing Celje)
- reflection on the role of pedagogical staff at implementing soft skills in teaching (Karmen Mikek, trainer in the project CL@SS)
- theory of implementing methodology of teaching soft skills in formal education (Andreja Grobelšek, trainer in the project Cl@SS)
- online platform with the access to the database of activities (Katja Kolenc, project coordinator, Celjski mladinski center)
- presentation of good practices – implementing methodology of teaching soft skills into a teachers work (Danica Artnak, Maja Basle, mag. Monika Brglez, Marija Bec, Danijel Berden, all teachers of  Secondary School for Nursing Celje )

The 40 participants covered the entire geographical region of Slovenia as well as all levels of formal education from primary, secondary and tertiary education. Several Secondary School teachers who participated are a part of the Association of Social pedagogy. The conference was nationally covered and resulted in several inquiries to present the methodology and platform in other Schools, NGO’s and National Institute for Vocational Education.

5-days international methodological workshop took place in Istanbul, Turkey in the period 24 – 28 April 2017. The event, perfectly hosted by METEGDER in the campus of Marmara University was attended by over 30 CL@SS pilot teachers, trainers and experts from all partner countries. Participants shared the results from the pilot testing of the transferred methodology in their schools and countries and discussed the process of adaptation of materials and creation of new ones. Further activities within the project period and beyond were also discussed, including further steps for developing new exercises for enriching the model. Certificates for teachers who passed all requirements for using the methodology were prepared.

For the purposes of the CL@SS project Slovenia implemented pilot activities in 2 Secondary Schools. 55 teachers from both schools were involved in teaching 1274 student’s different competences applying new and exciting teaching methods. 2 local license workshops took place simultaneously on 6th of April 2017 at two different places - School Center Velenje, and Secondary School for Nursing Celje. Teachers were very satisfied with all elements of the programme (content, balance between theory and practice, good approach, clear and accurate information provided).

In the period 27-28.03.2017, at the Economical College of Mountainous Banat in Reșița was organized the second national workshop in the framework of the CL@SS project. The event lasted two days with 42 participants (project team, 2 students, one university teacher and 34 trained teachers). The programme of the workshop focused on the following issues: presentation of the results from the pilot testing of the transferred methodology in class, discussions, presentation of the feedback results from teachers and students, discussion about the didactic materials, presentation and discussion about newly created exercises, demo activity, presentation of the on-line database with activities and discussion of opportunities for future use and development of methodology after the end of project.

All the participants were very active during the activities and very positive after the piloting activity, mostly because they considered that students were very enthusiastic about the exercises. At the end, a discussion followed about the future use of the proposed pedagogical approach in classes. All teachers consider the new methodological approach to be of major importance for changing mentality and didactical activity in classes. It represents the proper tool for the new approach that currently is trying to be implemented in Romanian educational system: education focused on the beneficiary and on competences learning.

In the framework of the CL@SS project, the Romanian partners have organized Information meetings for teachers and parents. At the University Eftimie Murgu in Reșița, in May 9-th 2016, was held one Information meeting with the participation of 63 teachers, headmasters and students from different schools in Reșița and also university professors and students. During October 2016 and January 2017, the Information meetings were focused on 225 parents (representatives from all classes), as target group. The aim of the Information meetings was to present general information about the CL@SS project and about the activities that will be carried out with the teachers and students in the following period. The project team presented the opportunity for the teachers to participate at the training courses and focused on raising their motivation to get involved in the piloting activity of the new didactical materials developed during the project. As for the parents, they were informed about the involvement of the students in this project, as target group and on the advantages of this project for the school, for the teachers and for the students (good key-competences, increased self-esteem and interest towards school subjects).

In October and December 2016, at the Economical College of Mountainous Banat were organized 3 Information campaigns for 121 students in the school, representatives from all classes. Flyers about the project were also distributed to different schools in the region, with the help of the trained teachers. The Information campaigns were organised to present the project and its objectives and to inform students about the aim of the pilot testing of the didactical materials, developed in the framework of the project.

The workshop entitled Career counseling and competence development for the labour market was held in Ostrava on December 15, 2016. The workshop was led by the labor market specialists from the consultancy company RPIC-ViP ltd. The workshop was held under the auspices of the Ostrava City Council within the Local Action Plan for Education.

All participants at the workshop agreed that in preparing children for the labor market, it is important to focus not only on knowledge but also on the development of soft skills.

Participants received information about the current situation and projections of the labor market in the region, had a chance to think about how to educate and prepare today's children for the future. In the second part of the workshop they talked about the current situation of the career counseling in elementary schools. Participants from among the directors, educators and teachers and guidance counselors were given information about methodological materials for the development of soft skills. They also had a chance to experience some of the activities by themselves. These educational materials have been developed within the project „Competencies for life“ and had been verified by 700 primary and secondary schools teachers and over 21,000 pupils. Currently these materials are part of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project „Cl@SS – Competences Learning at Secondary Schools“ and are being translated into other languages (Romanian, Bulgarian, Slovenian and Turkish), plus the database will be enriched with new exercises that arise in the context of international cooperation.
